Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK), one of the three research and development organisations that work full time to take care of Cardano has reached its next milestone by being accepted on the leading Oakland Cyber Security Conference.

The conference named IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy will be held in San Francisco on May this year. The conference is well known for presenting quality academic research and developments in the computer security and electronic privacy spaces.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, recently expressed his excitement on a tweet congratulating the authors of Cardano’s side-chain paper. The acceptance of Cardano’s paper is very important as it adds an overall value to the computer security market.

The IOHK side-chain paper also aims to impact positively on scalability problems available in today’s blockchain by providing a more efficient method of operation between blockchain protocols. If the side-chain does this on the blockchain, there’s an available firewall that’s set to limit the possibility of failure.

IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy

The side-chain paper written by Kiayias Zindros, Peter Gazi, and Dionysis Zindros, looks into the benefits of a side-chain system as well as how assets can safely be moved between blockchain systems.

The fact that the conference considers blockchain related papers is proof that blockchain technology is quickly gaining mass adoption and therefore making blockchain’s security an important issue.

Aggelos Kiayias, the chief scientist at IOHK has noted that side chains are very important, especially to functions such as Smart Contracts.

Other conference data

Another blockchain paper approved for the conference is the “Redactable Blockchain in the Permissionless Setting’’ written by Dominic Deuber, Bernardo Magri and Sri Aravinda Krishnan Thyagarajan.

Ever since its conception in the early 1980’s, the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy has been the premium forum for the computer security research. The symposium presents the latest developments and brings together participants and researchers from all across the globe.

It solicits previously unpublished papers that contain novel research contributions related to security or privacy. These papers often present advances in theory, design implementation, verification, analysis etc. Newly approved papers are added on the platforms website every month.
